A practical starting point
- Group structure and asset ownership
- Secured debt and related-party leases
- Trading assets versus surplus investments
These are prompts for the example below. The information needed for your business will be agreed individually.
An asset-owning company: defining exactly what transfers
Where a Scottish business holds operational assets, property or investments, the valuation brief should make clear which assets sit inside the company and which are held elsewhere. Otherwise an earnings figure and an asset value can overlap.
Provide a group structure, asset schedule and debt information. Separate trading and non-trading assets, and explain related-party leases. Property or other specialist assets may need separate specialist evidence within an agreed scope.
Make the brief
specific to you.
Tell us whether you need a whole-business or shareholding valuation, who will use it and the date it should relate to. Explain any proposed transaction and the documents currently available.
A valuation range is sensitive to the evidence and assumptions. We agree the fee and intended deliverable before starting; no value or transaction outcome is promised.

Define the assets and the report’s intended use
For an asset-owning company, distinguish trading assets, investments, property and related-party arrangements. Explain the location of the assets and whether specialist evidence is available. If the valuation is connected to a legal process, identify the applicable jurisdiction and reporting requirements at the outset.
